Dermabrasion

uses a rapidly rotating brush to remove the top most layer of skin. A new layer of skin grows in its place that is smoother and more youthful in appearance.

Dermabrasion  is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including scars and aging.

The initial side effects are pain and redness, similar to a moderate to severe sunburn. The skin heals after about 10 days. You may be provided medications to reduce any discomfort.

Avoid sunlight for 3 to 6 months after treatment. Dermabrasion may not be appropriate for people who are prone to forming keloids. In additional, people with dark skin may develop new skin that is more lightly pigmented than the surrounding skin, creating lighter patches.

Dermabrasion may be used with other procedures as part of a skin rejuvenation program.

Dermal Fillers NYC Treatment Center

As skin ages, there is loss of dermal collagen and subcutaneous fat. This results in characteristic contour changes in the facial profile and unwanted wrinkles.

With modern advances now, we are able to restore youth by removal of static wrinkles and lines, recorrection of profiles, adjust mild asymmetries in profile, improve skin defects and scars.

Dermal fillers can be broadly classifiable into either biodegradable or non-biodegradable. Biodegradable fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 24 months, whilst the non-biodegradable can last between 3 to 5 years.

Examples of dermal fillers that we use include:Voluma, Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, Perlane, Radiesse.

Bellafill® a new filler is approved for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds, or smile lines, and the correction of moderate to severe, atrophic, distensible facial acne scars on the cheek in patients over the age of 21 years.  Bellafill® is also the only dermal filler established safe and effective for the correction of nasolabial folds through 5 years.

New Dermal Fillers for 2015

1. Galderma Emervel

How it works: With five different types of hyaluronic acid fillers that fall under the Galderma umbrella, Emervel offers a new range of different filler products that run the spectrum from small to large particles. It’s more of a targeted hyaluronic acid filler because it is engineered differently.  Ultrasmooth and longer-lasting.

2. Kybella

 KYBELLA™

(Dubbed ATX-101) KYBELLA™ is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” It is not known if KYBELLA™ is safe and effective for use outside of the submental area. unique injectable contours a double chin, which can be caused by aging, genetics and/or weight gain, and can lead to an older and heavier look.  Anticipated to reduce a double chin without the need for liposuction. In clinical studies, most patients experienced improvement in two to four treatments.

3. Restylane Silk

2015

How it works: Restylane Silk is the newest member of the Restylane family. A clear hyaluronic acid injectable that’s injected directly into the lips and wrinkles around the mouth, Restylane Silk subtly shapes and defines the lips and smooths the lines around them.

Like most other fillers, Restylane Silk contains lidocaine to make the injection process more comfortable.

4. Juvéderm Volbella

Probably  the next year or two

Seeing the success of Juvéderm Voluma XC, a volumizing filler, Allergan (the manufacturer of Juvéderm products) is set to release Juvéderm Volbella, a hyaluronic acid–based gel filler that will augment lips and fill fine lines on and around the lips. Volbella has a slightly different cross-linking technology with a shorter hyaluronic acid chain so it flows more easily when it is injected. It’s also a softer and more cohesive filler, so you’ll get smoother results that last for a longer amount of time.

Gives a smoother, more natural result that also lasts longer (about one year) due to the cross-linking technology. Some doctors say it even gives a pretty sheen to the lips, too.
